Black Friday: Black Panther Discussion
I told myself that I wanted to do something super cool during Black History Month. I thought about having Black owned bar crawl, but I’m a tad too lazy for that foolishness. So after thinking it over, I made up my mind that I wanted to host a Black Panther movie discussion with my folks.
So, this Black Friday, we’re seeing the movie for a second time-- or third, fourth, fifth… nobody is counting and nobody is judging-- at a Black owned theatre. And having a discussion the following day at a Black owned brewery. Isn’t that pretty cool?
So, as we come to a close on this year’s Black History Month, I challenge y’all to do something with your Black ass friends. Have some discussions. I think that far too often we digests things without having a critical thinking sessions about what we’ve just consumed. Artists pour themselves into their work and I think that we owe it to them to have some thought provoking conversations about what they have presented to us. Moreover, we owe it to ourselves to fully understand what we're consuming. So, have some wine and cheese while analyzing exactly how much new growth Beyonce will allow before she switches out those damn braids. Or just be around some of your favorite Black people and have a good time.
However you celebrate Black History Month is up to you. Find the information for the little meetup here. Feel free to pop in if your in the neighborhood. Or not… again, just do what you want.
