How To: A Comprehensive Guide to Minding Your Own Business (Beginner Friendly)
In my previous post “Dear Women, This is a Guide to Properly Dressing During the Summer Months” I refer to minding the business of yourself quite a lot. After about a week of the post being exposed to the World Wide Web, I’ve come to the conclusion that people are confused about the process of minding the business of one’s self. Because I love you all and I aim to enrich the public through education and enlightenment, I will provide a brief guide to successfully minding your own business.
The first step to minding your own business is to identify if the subject, issue, or conversation impacts YOU as a person in anyway. For example, if there is a large group of teens and young adults that enjoy a genre of music referred to as “mumble rap” and they spend money to attend concerts, purchase merchandise, and acquire digital albums, but I personally think that style of music is trash… I wouldn’t respond. Why is that?—because it doesn’t stop me from listening to my personal catalog of tunes. In addition to minding my business and refraining from yelling hysterically at the genre’s artist—yes, this is about Joe Budden and all y’all back pack niggas like him – , I wouldn’t shame those who listen to that particular genre either, because it has NO thing to do with me.
Step number B is to identify if the situation is impacting those around you. For this, let’s think about catcalling. If I were on the train platform, and there is a young woman actively and purposefully minding her business as a young man approaches and begins to attempt to seduce the young lady. After that, she makes it very clear that she’s not interested and continues to mind her business. Because the young man isn’t happy with her response, he begins to call her a bitch and mentions that her lace frontal has too much lace. At this point, if I were to continue to remain silent, I wouldn’t be minding my business; I’d be actively allowing a young woman to be harassed. Therefore, I would speak up and try to diffuse the situation. I only intervene because it is clear that there is something going on that is negatively impacting someone around me. On the other hand, if the young lady were to decide to entertain the young man and exchange numbers and social media information, I would remain silent and practice the ancient art of minding my damn business.
If there is something that does not concern you or those around you in anyway, it is probably best to mind my own damn business. However, if I notice that there is something that negatively impacts someone, I would step in and insert myself with the attempt to end the injustice or wrong doing.
I know that this concept may be extremely difficult to capture and for that reason I’ve used imagery and common scenarios to help some digest the content. There are several benefits of minding the business of your damn self. One is that you will avoid getting on the nerves of others with our undesired commentary and “suggestions”. The second is probably the most important; you get to focus more on yourself and the development of your own business. I too used to stress myself out with the business of others. However, since I’ve switched to nurturing myself, my business, and my family, I have been much more relieved—and saved 15% on my health insurance. Once you relinquish the business of others, you’ll have more than enough time to dedicate to your own enrichment.
Ultimately, the world would be a much better place if people actively decided to not force their preferences, desires, and plans on those who aren’t impeding on them or others. So, to you niggas who find yourself extremely stressed by people who think that LeBron is the best player alive, think about all of the free time that you would have if you just let those people believe it while you wear your Kobe jersey and focused on your vision board with Jordan quotes? Or, for those who say that women will never find a man that loves them while wearing short dresses. Imagine if you didn’t place your wants and desires on women who may have already found a man that loves them while wearing a short dress or don’t give a fuck about pleasing no damn niggas. Overall, imagine letting people enjoy their own damn life when it has NOthing to do with you or those around you. Let people be happy and enjoy things.

I still talk shit about people who drink trash ass liquor because that’s NEVER good for the community
P.S. A lot of y’all niggas will “defend” Hip Hop before y’all defend a woman on the street being harassed. Get your shit together, my guy!
