Black Football Players Have the Nerve To Care About Something Other Than Football....

Black Football Players Have the Nerve To Care About Something Other Than Football....

All I wanted to do on Sunday is watch the fucking football game, eat some wings, and drink somebody else’s alcohol… but racism.

As y’all may know,“He shouldn’t have resisted” won the Super Bowl. Well, now that the confetti has cleared and the champagne has run dry, it’s time for the post win tour. Often after a national championship is won, the team makes rounds to different late night shows, early morning shows, and even night clubs while toting their new trophy. Of course the White House is one of the stops that are on the list. The teams usually do some schmoozing and photo taking with the current Commander in Chief. You all might also be aware that we have a racist piece of fruit in office. That being said a couple of the Black members of the Patriots have decided for obvious reasons that they will not be in attendance for the schmoozing at the White House. And White America is mad as hell.

I’ve seen quite a few “Keep politics and sports separate!” statements. I’m personally a fan of sports and I enjoy a good competitive game of throw around a ball and do a victory dance as much as the next American. I also understand the importance of protest. Protests are meant to disturb normal activity to bring injustice to the light. When protesters block streets, they do so to disrupt the normal flow of the city’s day-to-day activity and force others to hear the voices of the oppressed. For many Americans, Sunday is a day for watching football while drinking beer and eating chips and wings. If an athlete wants to disturb “normal programming” by taking a silent knee, that is his or her right to do so. In that moment, they are using their platform to protest injustice. In that, they’re forcing millions of Americans to listen to the voices of the oppressed. That’s their fucking right.

So, in the coming weeks when the patriots have to make that stroll up into the White House and Devin McCourty and Martellus Bennett along with others who are against the platform of this clementine that’s in office are absent, I’ll be in full support of their protest. And I hope that White America is willing to give the same respect to those members as they gave to Tom Brady in 2015. But we know that shit won’t happen.

And because White America is extremely predictable, I know they’ll soon boycott buying the jerseys of these men much like they boycotted the jersey of Colin Kaepernick and anything else he was associated with. Because that is bound to happen sooner rather than later, I fully support anyone who decides that they don’t want to support the Patriots due to the Trump support by both the Coach and the starting quarterback. We don’t have to ignore their political ties in the same way that they don’t ignore our political statements.

This is the time to be political with everything. Disrupt the “normal” flow of society. Force people to see, taste, smell, and feel the injustice that lies within the fabric of this nation. Don’t hold back. Force feed them the truth. Don’t let them find comfort in anything without them knowing that injustice lives in their beloved country. Find your voice and your method of protest! One of my personal methods of protests is writing shit on the internets. What’s yours?

Be great,
Afros and Ovaries
Fuck Trump and anybody that’s affiliated with his bitch ass
